What is it?

In this project, students created a comic story using your own pictures and storyline by using Comic Life software (available for Windows and Mac), Clay models and Digital Cameras. Large comic style text and captions can be used to tell a story which can help improve a young person's literacy skills.

What did you do?

In small groups, students first wrote a short story on a storyboard template sheet provided by the tutor. The students then chose the text for each scene. Once the story was written, the students created clay models to represent the characters and props in the story. Using digital cameras, the students took photographs of the models for each scene in the story. These images are then uploaded to the computer.

The final stage is using Comic Life software to put their comics together with comic style captions for each image. Once completed the comics can be printed in a book format for the students to take home.
