 What is it?
The storyteller uses digital still images and Microsoft Photostory 3 for Windows (the software is free) to create a movie about a topic of their choice. In schools the project can be used in any area of the curriculum and it is particularly useful in integrating subject areas. The software is also very suited to use in the home for making stories from holiday photos or family occasions.

The photos are imported into the software and various effects can then be applied. Text can be added to the images and the user can set motion and transitions between the images. A voice over narration is added if required and background music can be selected or created within the software. The movie can be exported in different quality settings depending on how the user wishes to share it - email, smartphone or computer playback.

  Did you enjoy it?

"one girl in particular, that I was astounded with, who normally I'm afraid sits with her head on the table... to see her in the role of the driver in a project was unbelievable. I have never seen her do that before the entire time I have being working with her... to go from having to coerce her into doing something to kind of being shouted out, don't interfere, stay away i'm having too much fun... it was great for her confidence and self-esteem, ...her whole demeanor transformed after it. That was for me, the most special part of the day." - Brenda Earle

"first of all I thought it was very motivating for the children. A different way to tackle Shakespeare as opposed to writing comprehension answers... it got them involved in groups, it incorporated the drama and their own practical drama skills. They very much enjoyed the decision making process and the discussion that went along with it. I felt that was very very beneficial. Above all they enjoyed and produced something they could be proud of at the end." - April Cronin
